If you had to break down a independent volunteer fire departments man hours you would see that about 40% of the hours is spent on raising funds to equip and maintain the department, 50% on training and maintenance, and only 10% on fire fighting and rescue.

The average cost of turnout gear for a firefighter is an estimated $1,500 per firefighter. With the new safety regulations and requirements the price tag of a truck has skyrocketed. We recently ordered a new truck and the cost is around $300,000 and that's just the truck it does not include the hose and other equipment!
