Dave Vinisky

Dave was a life long resident of Raccoon Twp. He was a Maintance Mechanic at Zinc Corp. of America, and resided on Valley View Lane. He joined the department officially in July 1973, but was seen around the department since before he could walk. He was a third generation member following in his grandfather's and father's footsteps [his late grandfather Andrew and father Bob, are both charter members]. His brother Drew was also a former member.

Dave was an avid outdoorsman, serving on Beaver River Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and a member of the Pheasants Forever.

When asked why he joined the fire department he answered, "To serve the township and carry on the family tradition". The departments first fund raiser, a bake sale, was run out of his grandmother's kitchen.

August 25, 2004

Dave gave his life today doing what he loved, working at the fire station. He came today to teach his fellow members what he had learned about the operations of our newest pumper. Due to a freak tragic accident, God has taken him into His arms.

Dave will be sadly missed by all, and forgotten by none.
